Engineering

The customer’s engineering arm within Rion’s production lines – control over the product requirements and over the required measurement and testing methods, and integration of technical solutions ensuring fulfillment of product and customer requirements.

Let’s talk about your project

Responsibility of achieving customer requirements

Customer assistance with specification of requirements to enable measurment of the products and control over the design of fixtures and jigs.

In-process troubleshooting and solutions, including:

  • Required modifications to the molds

  • Modification of the manufacturing process

  • Modifications required in the product design including raw materials

Certification of new molds

Trial injections are conducted in the presence of the customer.
Statisitcal analysis of measurements is available, on demand.
Analysis will determine is dimensional corrections are in need to achieve precision fit with the product design. Following all of the mold adjustment procedures, and final approval by the customer, the Engineering Department is in charge of transferring the mold to production in accordance with customer-defined procedures or, in many cases, in accordance with the standard required, as in the case of medical products (completion of product documentation, packaging, inspection processes etc.).

Assistance in investigation of product defects

We at Rion are able to assist the customer in investigating defects to improve the product, in collaboration with rheology laboratories, the Technion Metals Institute, use of analytical tools and contacts with raw material manufacturers.

Design

Rion offers customer assistance with specifying and designing their products, with emphasis on adapting to the injection technologies, using analytical tools for strength analysis, for intra-mold flow analysis and for defect prediction.

Product Engineering

The work process for each product includes:

Requirements
specification

Preliminary design

Preparation and selection
of a design concept

Detailed design

Evaluation of
product costs

Strength analysis*

Mold flow analysis / defect prediction**

*Strength analysis – Strength analysis identificaion of stress development within the product and whether it will withstand these stresses, and whether product reinforcement is necessary through geometrical modification or through changing the raw material.

**Mold flow analysis / defect prediction predicts the post injection geometry of the part (which is not identical to the original design) and enables design modifications prior to injection.

Functional Tests

Together with the Customer, we define the tests required for each part, and assist in the measurements including non-geometrical functional tests. We assist in adapting tools for the various tests.
