Adapting to a shifting economic landscape, Rion has decided to consolidate its manufacturing operations into its northern facility at Kibbutz Cabri. The transition has already begun with the relocation of production machinery, and is slated for completion with the final closure of the Plastokit site by the end of 2026
Navigating a dynamic industrial landscape, Rion is spearheading a strategic consolidation of its operations into a single, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. Yet, behind this complex logistical undertaking lies a profoundly human story of transparency, camaraderie, and commitment – bringing years of shared achievements full circle.
A Legacy of Excellence: Plastokit’s Chapter at Rion
Founded in 1978 in the southern town of Be’er Tuvia, Plastokit joined the Rion family in 2011. In the years following the acquisition, the site served as the group’s secondary manufacturing arm. Looking back, the synergy between the companies yielded mutual benefits and shared growth: following the acquisition, Plastokit pivoted to focus on strategic clients, accompanying them over many years and growing alongside them. Key clients have included SodaStream, Maytronics, Aran Nachshon, and SCR. Furthermore, Plastokit developed specialized expertise in manufacturing for global medical device companies, such as Chembio and Thermo Fisher. Now, these operations are being merged into Rion’s facility at Kibbutz Cabri in the north, ensuring continued high-quality, efficient service under one roof.
Transitioning to an Era of Operational Excellence
The strategic advantage of consolidating manufacturing sites has been evident to Rion for several years. In fact, the new production hall built a few years ago was designed from the ground up with the foresight that, should the need for a merger arise, the infrastructure would be ready to support it. That time has now come.
The shifting economic climate ultimately dictated the timing of this move. In response, Rion chose to centralize its efforts at the Cabri site, which boasts modern water, electrical, and raw material infrastructures, alongside strict climate control systems.
The merger, which is already underway, will be fully completed by the end of 2026. Plastic injection molding capabilities at the Cabri site have expanded significantly; the arrival of Plastokit’s production machines will increase output by approximately 20%, bringing Rion closer to operating 100 injection machines at a single location. These are joined by new manufacturing capabilities now available at Cabri, including automation systems, ultrasonic welding, and decoration technologies such as laser and pad printing.
Transparency Above All: Putting People First
At the heart of this transition are the people. Rion chose to manage the process with the utmost sensitivity and total transparency, both internally with employees and externally with clients. Ofir Ram, the company’s CEO, notes: “We made it a priority to share every detail with our employees right from the start. The team has been incredibly dedicated to the process and supported it fully.”
Plastokit employees who have chosen not to relocate with the company following the merger are receiving financial support grants and comprehensive career counseling. “Significant efforts have been invested in helping Plastokit employees navigate their next professional steps—from resume writing to interview simulations. We are deeply grateful to our team and want to ensure that everyone finds the new path that suits them best,” emphasizes Dafna Wertheimer, HR Manager.
Resilience in Challenging Times
It is impossible to summarize this transition without addressing the context in which it is occurring. Amid a complex security reality fraught with personal and national challenges, the commitment of both the Rion and Plastokit teams has been nothing short of remarkable. They showed up to work, trained one another during professional handovers, and proved that even in the most difficult of times, professionalism and responsibility prevail.
Noa Avraham, Plastokit Site Manager, concludes: “This is a profound learning experience for all of us. The team here has shown remarkable grace and collaborated in great spirits. Having grown personally within the company, it is my hope that this current move will bring positive development and new opportunities for us all.”
Gratitude and Appreciation to Our Teams
The deepest gratitude belongs, of course, to the exceptional teams at Plastokit and Rion. They have navigated a significant journey—from the transfer of knowledge to maintaining seamless operational continuity for our clients. This serves as a testament to a robust organizational culture rooted in professionalism and mutual respect. There is no doubt that the dedicated work carried out at Plastokit over the years will forever remain an integral part of Rion’s story.
